Hey everyone Natasha here I’m going to talk to you about water chemistry today. pH and alkalinity so what’s the difference why do you want to know all that fun stuff, so pH is a measurement of acid concentration, and it’s measured in a scale of 0 to 14 seven being neutral zero being very acidic and 14 being very basic. Which is also known as alkaline don’t confuse that with alkalinity which is the ability to buffer acid in a solution. So alkalinity is measured in a parts per million and it has the necessary ability to bind to an acid to neutralize that acid. So if your pH reading um gets too low on the acidic side then we want to to look at your alkalinity levels in parts per million and adjust it so we can make sure that your pH is going back more to the neutral aspect of things so alkalinity is the resistance to change of the pH in your solution alkaline is simply a measurement of acid concentration on the pH scale stay tuned for more water chemistry fun.
