The only way to get down into the pipes to clean out contaminants and prevent them from ruining your hot tub experience is to conduct a spa purge. If you\u2019re not yet familiar with the term \u2018spa purge,\u2019 essentially, it\u2019s the process of running a cleanser through the pipe system. A\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hunker.com\/12374048\/can-i-use-vinegar-to-clean-my-hot-tub\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">spa purge with vinegar<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>won\u2019t damage your pipes, but since it won\u2019t effectively remove the biofilm, it\u2019s a waste of time.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Hot tub purge flush products&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; text_font=&#8221;|300|||||||&#8221; text_text_color=&#8221;#333333&#8243; text_font_size=&#8221;20px&#8221; header_4_text_color=&#8221;#333333&#8243; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h4 align=\"LEFT\"><b>Hot tub purge flush products<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve chosen and purchased a hot tub pipe flush product and are ready to clean out your pipes, be sure to read the specific directions for your product before starting. But here are some general guidelines to get you started.<\/p>\n<p>1. Remove the filters. Check to see what shape they\u2019re in. If the filters are really dirty or haven\u2019t been replaced in a year or more, replace them. Otherwise, ensure that your filters are properly cleaned by using a product like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/spamarvel.com\/spa-marvel-filter-cleaner\/\"><strong>Spa Marvel Filter Cleaner<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>2. Shock your spa. Although this isn\u2019t necessary, shocking with chlorine or bromine can help the purge process by killing bacteria in the water before you start to ensure your hot tub is clean.<\/p>\n<p>3. Add the hot tub line flush product to the water. Follow the directions for the product you\u2019ve chosen for how much to add. Most hot tub flushes recommend using warm if not hot water for an effective hot tub purge.<\/p>\n<p>4. Run the hot tub line flush through the plumbing. Run the jets for at least an hour to circulate the product in the pipes. Then let it continue circulating with the pumps running to keep the water containing the hot tub line flush moving around. Doing the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bobvila.com\/articles\/how-to-clean-a-jetted-tub\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0<strong>spa purge<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0overnight will allow it enough time to get into the biofilm and through all the plumbing. Just don\u2019t use the spa while doing a purge.<\/p>\n<p>5. Drain and clean your hot tub. Once the biofilm is broken down, the only way to clear the hot tub flush and loosened buildup is to drain the water completely. After you empty your hot tub, clean all the surfaces to remove any remaining residue.<\/p>\n<p>6.
